A Hike with Purpose: Trash Pickup at Mount Gede
As part of our Mount Gede adventure, we’re dedicating a special segment of the trip to a Trash Pickup Session. Together, we’ll help clear the trail, protect the ecosystem, and preserve the beauty of this iconic mountain for future adventurers. This isn’t just about reaching the summit, it’s about making a difference along the way and the participant who picked up the most trash will get to win EXPED - Mountain Pro 30.

Trekking Guide

- Thermal fleece/mid layer top in down, wool or a synthetic material

- First aid kit (at least elastic bandage, blister pads, compresses and tape). It is recommended to complement the mandatory first aid kit with safety pins, butterfly stitches (skin closures), fluid replacement and pain reliever.
- 35lr backpack with rain protection cover
- Sun hat/cap
- Hiking socks, preferably in wool

- A change of shoes or flip flops/sandals to give your feet a break
- Hiking trousers, a pair that can be unzipped to become shorts are ideal – it does get warm up there sometimes

- When is the trip happening?
The hike takes place on Saturday–Sunday, 30–31 August 2025.

Cilandak Town Square (CITOS), Jakarta
Please arrive on time to avoid delays. Transportation to the basecamp is provided. - What’s the total hiking distance?
The trek is approximately 18 km round-trip, via the Gunung Putri trail. - Is this trip suitable for beginners?
Yes, the difficulty is moderate. We recommend joining if you've done light hiking before and have moderate physical stamina. You’ll be guided throughout the journey and briefed beforehand. - What is included in the trip package? Your trip includes:
- Mount Gede Entry Ticket (2D1N)
- Round-trip transportation (Jakarta ↔ Basecamp)
- 3x meals: breakfast, lunch, BBQ dinner (Day 1), post-hike lunch (Day 2)

Here's a short essentials list:
- Hiking shoes with grip
- Windbreaker or rain jacket

- Trekking pole (recommended for stability!) - Is there an age limit?
Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. - Will there be guides or support during the hike?
Yes, experienced guides will accompany the group throughout the hike. They will provide support, ensure safety, and share information about the trail and surroundings. - Is drinking water provided for this event?
No, so it is recommended that participants bring their own drinking water to stay properly hydrated throughout the hike but can purchase at warung during the trek. - Is porter service provided?
No, this is a fully self-supported event. Participants must carry all necessary gear and supplies. There will be no porter services available. - What’s the cancellation policy?
All payments are non-refundable.
However, you can transfer your slot to another participant by notifying the Outside Indonesia team no later than 1 August 2025. - What makes this trip special?

Participants will be provided a trash bag and gloves to pick up the trash along the trail. The trash will be carried by participants, and the trash will be disposed by The Organisation of Mount Gede after the hike. - How do I register or contact the organizer?
